Anne Roy was the daughter Dr. Mungo Roy of Port Royal. She was the second wife of John Mercer.

The subject wears a dress with a ruffled stomacher. She has a lace trimmed drape wrapped around her arm. She has pearls in her hair and wears jeweled earrings and a seven strand pearl necklace. A bow is visible at the nape of her neck.
