Daniel Parke Custis was the son of John Custis and Frances Parke Custis. He was the first husband of Martha Dandridge.
Reference: 1757 receipt for 56 pistoles to pay for this portrait, a portrait of his wife, and a double portrait of his children, is in the Custis Family Papers, Virginia Historical Society.

The portrait shows a man standing outdoors with his left hand on a grass covered stone plinth and his right hand on his hip. He wears a brown jacket and a white waistcoat with a black ribbon at his neck.
