Eleanor Carroll Brent came from the prominent, Catholic Carroll family of Maryland. She married William Brent of Richland in ca. 1753.

Portrait represents a woman wearing a white Van Dyck-inspired gown with heavy lace trim and dark blue breastknot. She is inside a painted oval frame and is turned three-quarters to her right.
