This portrait used to be called Judith Randolph Stith (Mrs. William Stith). However, research at the Muscarelle Museum has confirmed that it is not the said subject and it likely did not originate in Virginia.

The portrait represents an older-looking woman wearing a dress with diamond buckle, drapery around waist. Her left hand holds a tiny book, right hand holds open fan, and a large ribbon is tied in hair. She wears an earring and a cross-shaped jeweled necklace. A corner of a table is visible in lower left corner and corner of a book visible.
