Formerly called William Stith (1707-1755)

This portrait used to be called William Stith. However, research at the Muscarelle Museum has confirmed that it is not the said subject and it likely did not originate in Virginia.

The subject wears cleric’s robes and has one hand on an upright book. A letter addressed to him and a quill and ink stand are on the table. A curtain with fringe and tassel is behind him.
