Artist: John Durand
Date: 1770-1775

Frances Peyton was the daughter of John Peyton. She married John Tabb of Amelia County in 1770. Another version of this portrait was recorded with the inscription “Frances Tabb, Age 23, J. Durand, Painter, 1775.” It is unclear what the relationship between the two portraits is.

The subject wears a pink dress trimmed with lace. She wars a five-strand pearl necklace and a floral hairpiece. Her right hand appears to hold a small flower up at her breast while her left hand is lower and holds large roses.
