Gawen Corbin

The subject of this recorded portrait is not confirmed. Richard Lee II‘s personal property inventory (ca. 1714) included portraits of a “G. Corbin” and “T. Corbin” in his hall. Richard Lee II was married to Laeititia Corbin, daughter of Henry Corbin (1629-1675). She had two brothers who survived to adulthood named Gawen and Thomas. It is possible that Richard Lee II and Laetitia Corbin Lee had portraits of her brothers. If these portraits remained at Machodoc plantation, where Richard and Laetita Lee lived, they likely burned in the 1729 fire that destroyed the house.
