Jane Corbin and Gawin Corbin

Jane (or Janie Oakie) and Gawin Corbin were two of the children of John Corbin and Lettice Lee Corbin of Portobago. Their sister was Martha Corbin.

The portrait represents two children in a landscape. A young girl sits and is turned towards her left where her brother stands. She wears a gown trimmed with lace. Her right hand holds up a rose. Her left hand gestures towards flowers in her lap. A dog is on her left. The dog looks up toward a young boy who rests his right hand on the dog’s head. The boy is dressed in a trimmed gown. The canvas is an unusual size.
