Richard Cocke IV was married to Elizabeth Hartwell. Their primary residence was Swann’s Point.

The subject wears a dark suit and matching waistcoat. He is seated in a wooden chair. His right hand rests on the arm of the chair and holds a folded letter with a seal. He is inside a painted oval frame. The portrait appears to have been signed and dated: ”Richard Cocke / Born 1707 / John Durand / Pinxit 1771″; this may be a later copy of an original inscription.
